Mrs. Meyers Clean day: a memoir
Monica Nassif didn’t just build a brand—she bottled a legacy. I Bottled My Mother is the gritty, hilarious, heartfelt origin story behind Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day, the cult-favorite cleaning line inspired by Monica’s real-life mom, Thelma Meyer. Part startup manual and part memoir, this is the candid story of how one woman turned domestic skills into corporate strategy, and a small soap company into a household name.

Monica R. Nassif
Founder and Former CEO, Mrs. Meyer's Clean Day
While walking a big box home store in Atlanta, I had a eureka moment when I stumbled upon a wooden pallet of tipped over mass cleaning products. Neon liquids, ugly bottles, and medicinal aromas, I thought to myself: There must be a better way. There must be a way to create cleaning products that are beautifully fragranced in gorgeous packaging that are safe to use around my two daughters and our two cats.

The Mrs. Meyer’s Story: Grit, Grime & Growing a Business
From a chaotic Iowa childhood to a career in brand building, Monica brings us inside the messy business of entrepreneurship—one that began on her kitchen floor and grew into a national retail presence with shelves in Walmart, Target, Whole Foods, and beyond. Told in short, sharp chapters with warmth and wit, this is a story about startups, motherhood, and the power of building something honest, authentic, and good. For anyone who’s ever asked: “How do I make my way in the world using what I already have?”—this book is your bottle of encouragement.

I'M MONICA
I'm an entrepreneur, writer, speaker and brand builder. In short, a worker bee. Always have been.
I started Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day and Caldrea with a small team, a limited budget, and a very specific idea: that cleaning products could be useful and beautiful at the same time.
I’ve launched businesses, sold businesses, flopped a few times, and trusted my instincts more times than I can count. These days, I share what I’ve learned with people who are building real things—especially inside companies where speed and clarity are hard to come by.
I don’t have a formula. But I do have stories, perspective, and a way of seeing things that tends to help.

Internal Talks
I meet with teams—marketing, product, brand, sometimes M&A—and talk through how I built what I built.
It’s less of a talk, more of a conversation. What worked, what didn’t, what I paid attention to along the way.
If your team’s thinking about how to grow, shift, or launch something, this usually helps.
Brand Collaborations
Every so often, I partner with a team that’s building something—maybe it’s a new product, a category shift, or just a moment where outside perspective is useful.
I bring ideas, instincts, and a real-world point of view from years of building and scaling.
No set process. If it makes sense, we figure it out together.
